W
hen TV shows take us across the globe, it’s not just the stunning locations that keep viewers hooked, but the visual storytelling that adds flair.
Helloworld Travel is known for showcasing globe-trotting adventures with host warmth and polished production, and they asked Visual Targets to modernise their on‐screen look. From layered animations to sleek transitions, we stepped in via a referral from the team behind Luke Nguyen’s India. The result was a blend of creativity and precision that brought travel to life on screen.
The Story of Helloworld Travel
Helloworld Travel had already earned a following for its immersive travel stories, with seasons airing on 7Plus originally and then Channel 9’s 9now for the series we created the animations for. The show features a rotating lineup of popular Australian hosts (such as Luke Nguyen, Eddie McGuire, Lauren Phillips, Giaan Rooney, and Anthony “Lehmo” Lehmann) bringing credibility and familiarity to audiences. It showcases destinations both within Australia (e.g., WA, Broome) and internationally (e.g., Fiji, Canada, Croatia, Japan, Vietnam, Sri Lanka, Singapore), offering viewers travel inspiration and exclusive deals via the Helloworld network.
For the 2024 episode spotlighting Naji Fiji, the show’s production company, Lux Content, sought fresh, modern motion graphics to elevate the viewing experience. Through a referral from Creative Media Productions (for whom we’d previously crafted animations for Luke Nguyen’s India), they turned to us. Our job: transform an already vibrant show into something visually striking, layered, and seamless.
The Challenges and Opportunities
Here’s a breakdown of the visual challenges, how we tackled them, and why they ultimately elevated the final product:
Titles & Overlay Intro Animation

Challenge: The show required a title animation that could seamlessly overlay video, fading in to kick off the episode and then fading out as the host begins speaking.
Solution: We crafted an opening title that tucks in over the video, then gently fades to reveal the content below, delivering punch without distracting.
Info-Box “Package Deal” Animation

Challenge: Travel details (like itinerary, pricing, or show highlights) needed to appear in an attractive, consistent way across segments.
Solution: We designed “info-box” overlays – animated panels that slide in with the show’s details, styled in the same visual language, giving viewers useful insight without disrupting the flow.
Info-Box “Package Deal” Animation

Challenge: The show transitions between destinations and hosts wanted a globe and an airplane animation that looked clean, modern, yet accurately oriented. Plus, the show’s signature blue palette needed thoughtful handling as ocean and land would appear in similar tones.
Solution: We created a 3D globe, placing Australia and the destinations with precision, then overlaid a branded plane animation. If travelling with Singapore Airlines, the plane carried that branding; otherwise, it stayed white. The ocean’s tone was adjusted: the land stayed in the show’s blue, and the ocean in darker blue, ensuring legibility and brand consistency.
To guide the eye, we blurred the globe in motion while keeping the plane crisp.
Presenter & Guest Straps

Challenge: When guests or the host appeared on screen, their names and affiliations needed to be displayed clearly. For the host, just the name needed to appear, whereas guests needed their name with their company’s name.
Solution: We animated lower-third “straps” that slide in from the left. Hosts get their name; guests get “Name – Company.” These were clean, legible, and synchronised with the show’s timing.
Commercial Break Transition & Animated Logo
Challenge: There was no existing animated logo, and the transition to commercial needed polish.
Solution: We developed a simple yet elegant animated logo to overlay during fade-outs into commercial breaks, adding brand consistency and stylised flair.
Production & Communication Dynamics
Challenge: The project faced rolling changes, which means the episode numbers shifted, guest names & company names changed, sometimes last minute.
Solution: We maintained close, flexible communication with Lux Content, staying adaptive so each animation iteration matched the episode’s evolving needs without compromising quality.
Creative Process Iteration

Challenge: Early globe ideas (like a rotating globe underneath a foreground plane) felt fantastic in theory, but proportionally overpowering, too cartoonish for the show’s aesthetic.
Solution: We scaled elements to keep things sleek, referencing the more restrained style we’d developed for Luke Nguyen’s India. The result struck balance between informative and polished.
Once the camera angle and scale was tweaked, there was an un-used idea to also show other modes of transport, like a cruise liner shown above.
The Results
Check out this animation we produced to showcase the various graphics mixed in with video footage from the show:

- The elegant plane animations that guided the viewer’s focus.
- The adaptation of brand colours with visual clarity, especially on the globe transitions.
- The dynamic straps that let viewers instantly recognise hosts and guests.
